Connect LNG was born from the strong desire to challenge the status quo in established and traditional industry sectors which are deep-rooted in the Norwegian culture; namely Maritime, Shipping and Energy.
Norway is a maritime nation and has been at the forefront of the shipping industry for over 150 years. Thanks also to the national oil and gas adventure which started in the 1970’s, Norway is home to the many companies leading the technology revolution in the offshore sector.
In 2012 Connect LNG brought to life a hypothesis relating to LNG transfer from ship to shore. Analysis showed that fixed port infrastructures were incredibly expensive, detrimental to marine biodiversity with project schedules which expanded years, rather than months. Maritime companies, experts and ship captains interviewed at the time were eager to simplify LNG cargo offloading and berthing possibilities. The question then formed: "Is there a way to bring the jetty to the ship, rather than the ship to the jetty?"
Today, Connect LNG is an independent Norwegian technology company headquartered in Oslo, whose core solution offering for the midstream, downstream and maritime markets is the jettyless Universal Transfer System UTS®, which successfully completed the world’s first offloading of LNG from ship to shore in 2017.
The team at Connect LNG are leading the way to a future of jettyless liquid transfer.

Natural gas needs to be liquefied at an LNG plant in order to be shipped. This article explains how this key link in the LNG value chain works.
A jetty often serves as the marine infrastructure of an LNG terminal. Below, follows a breakdown of the different components and aspects of constructing an LNG jetty.
The LNG industry needs to keep evolving to keep up with competing energy sources. Floating LNG transfer systems can enable new energy markets. We explore the import infrastructure available along South Africa’s coastline and how improvements can be made to strengthen the country’s energy industry.
Connect LNG was born from first-hand experience with the challenges and inefficiencies of traditional LNG offloading methods from ship to shore. Our core offerings remove the need for fixed and permanent infrastructure such as quays, jetties, trestle structures and loading platforms.
Dredging, which is expensive and damaging to coastal areas, can be eliminated with Connect LNG’s floating jettyless transfer solution.
