Connect LNG was born from the strong desire to challenge the status quo in established and traditional industry sectors which are deep-rooted in the Norwegian culture; namely Maritime, Shipping and Energy.
Norway is a maritime nation and has been at the forefront of the shipping industry for over 150 years. Thanks also to the national oil and gas adventure which started in the 1970’s, Norway is home to the many companies leading the technology revolution in the offshore sector.
In 2012 Connect LNG brought to life a hypothesis relating to LNG transfer from ship to shore. Analysis showed that fixed port infrastructures were incredibly expensive, detrimental to marine biodiversity with project schedules which expanded years, rather than months. Maritime companies, experts and ship captains interviewed at the time were eager to simplify LNG cargo offloading and berthing possibilities. The question then formed: "Is there a way to bring the jetty to the ship, rather than the ship to the jetty?"
Today, Connect LNG is an independent Norwegian technology company headquartered in Oslo, whose core solution offering for the midstream, downstream and maritime markets is the jettyless Universal Transfer System UTS®, which successfully completed the world’s first offloading of LNG from ship to shore in 2017.
By understanding our customers' goals, technology gaps in the market and embracing innovation, we are able to leverage upon our industry experience and domain expertise from the shipping, maritime and energy sectors, in order to deliver cost effective, flexible and safe liquid loading/unloading solutions for the maritime industry.
